Machining

One of the key advantages UCT offers its customers is access to the best machining technology and experience available in the industry. Although UCT has many high quality machining suppliers to provide customers with the lowest prices, UCT can provide vertical integration of machining and assembly which differentiates us from assembly only contract manufacturers.

We have developed a fully automated scheduling and costing system that tracks every job in UCT's machine shop. This system provides every supervisor and machine operator with a real time prioritized schedule for each machine and work center down to the specific work order and machine operation. This level of control not only assures on time delivery to internal and external customers, but allows detailed cost information for every part. Knowing the accurate part costs allows us to provide our customers the lowest prices while maintaining profitability.

UCT's state of the art machinery can handle all of your machining needs. We purchase only the best machinery from industry leading manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Mori Seki, Quantum and Okuma. We routinely work with all grades of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, hastelloy and plastics as well as many other material types.

Here's a sample machinery list:

  • 38 CNC Lathes with 38" swing
  • 48 CNC Mills with up to 100' x 200' travel distance
  • 2 Horizontal CNC Mills with 24.8" X 23.6" Y 25.6" Z travel distance
  • 4 Horizontal CNC Mills, 28 pallet FMS - Flexible Manufacturing System
  • Wire EDM Machine
  • 9 Coordinate Measuring Machines
  • 6 Precision MIG & TIG Weld Stations
  • CNC Engraving, Ultra Sonic Cleaning, Manual Assembly and Leak Testing

Prototype Machine Facility

The UCT Prototype shop is an approved/certified supplier for many Silicon Valley high tech manufacturers. The Prototype shop is a full service resource whose capacity is reserved for rapid response to our customer's R & D engineers. All purchasing, scheduling, and production functions are separate from our main machining facility to allow for the changes, stops and starts that are necessary in the design and development process. Our design engineering customers have a single point of contact that understands their unique needs, including extreme flexibility for design changes. Our prototype shop personnel have many years of experience and routinely provide early and effective value engineering and DFM (design for manufacturability). An added benefit is that the Prototype Shop is fully supported by the UCT Machine Shop to allow for a smooth transition to volume production without any loss of knowledge that often occurs when a part is moved from a dedicated prototype shop to a volume machine shop.
